felting activity at outdoor festival

Offer children of all ages wonderful ways to get their hands into materials and play - wake up their well-being, their creativity, their joy in belonging to Planet Earth, right here where they live. Art can be tailored to a festival setting, a holiday program, a school incursion or a home-party depending on your needs and the ages and numbers of young people you are planning for. Materials are chosen with care - when possible they are natural, recycled or upcycled. To ask about art workshops or request a quote, Contact Out of the Pouch.

Hand-felting

Hand-felting is the world's oldest textile art and is still wild and wooly and AWAKE. This medium is playful and forgiving - and it's good to know that the sheep who 'donated' their wool are still (hopefully) bounding around on hilltops. It lends itself to simple activities such as making an ornament, prayer-flag or flower – or simply a colourful ball or cord. Children delight in this wonderful sensory experience with wool and water.

Book magic

Making your own book from recycled paper and card is an interesting and satisfying art activity for children of all ages. A simple technique using hole punch, dowel (or twig from nature) makes this activity easy to tailor for different environments, and it can be extended in many ways - such as artwork on the cover, or more complex bookbinding techniques.

Nature craft

In a time when children are feeling anxiety regarding our environment, there are few things more healing than actually getting hands into natural materials and playing. This can be as simple as gathering leaves, feathers and other things from nature and creating a 'wishing bundle' or it can be as complex as eco-printing with leaves onto paper.
