Our world loves art – I am sure of it because wherever we go, we find humans reaching into the materials around us, getting to know them, playing, exploring. Creating things that are useful, beautiful, meaningful. Making art, for me, is sometimes a reflection and sometimes an act of intention. Calling in a desire for what I want in my world, letting that story become part of the work. Knowing that the finished piece resonates with that power. Sharing this love with others, this power to calm our minds, to wake up our energy, to find our way home again by getting our hands into matter.

Art for wellbeing
Getting our hands into materials and creating something new is both calming and inspiring. Our nervous systems ease as hands play with matter and we can integrate new experiences and information. Art is an ancient human connection and we wake up neural pathways that help connect us to our environment and to others. In a group, the shared artwork holds a powerful space, and can literally help to heal and delight. Explore our workshops for adults or for children.
Care for Earth
Natural, recycled and upcycled materials care for our planet and are central to Out of the Pouch. It is an ethos of respect that lets us know we are acting for and with the web of life. Art can also become way to give the world a powerful voice in our lives - knowing that the materials we are using, such as wool, natural fibres, recycled paper, leaves for eco-dyeing - literally connect us to the nature around us. When love and care for land are active values, the world feels like Home again.
